Academics, athletics, socials, and environmental, community, and cultural activities - all these and more make Autumn a busy time at Saint Mary’s High. The school opened its 153rd school year in August and school life is in full swing. College and University reps from around the country are visiting each week to engage juniors and seniors in post-secondary study options. The Panthers are busy on the field, court, and golf course -- Homecoming is October 24, hosting Pinole Valley High at Brady Park on campus. Hundreds of area eighth graders will visit the campus for student-led admissions tours, with the annual Admissions Open House set for Sunday, November 22. Photos: Freshmen worked with the Save the Bay program during the Fall Term “Lasallian Days” on October 1 and 2, and also attended a community day retreat with upperclassmen student leaders and faculty moderators at the De La Salle Christian Brothers’ District headquarters at Mont La Salle in Napa. The alumni gift of upgrades to the school’s 1948 gym continues; new basketball goals were installed in late September, and a new Panther was painted on the gym wall (visible behind the goal) by alumnus John Manente ’04 and his dad, Jim. Moms and sons enjoyed a great evening at the sold-out Mother & Son Dinner-Dance Luau on campus on September 11. Dads and daughters will enjoy a Southern Soiree-themed event this Thursday night. Mark your calendars now to join the Saint Mary’s community for a magical Christmas Concert on December 17. Check the school web site later this Fall for details.
