Season Comes to an End for Albany High Softball
Terra Linda scored early and often to knock the Cougars from the NCS playoffs
The girls softball team was one game away from the Division III North Coast Finals when it stepped on the field Wednesday to host upset-minded Terra Linda.
All it took was one bad inning to dash the Cougars' hopes of advancing, as they dropped a 9-1 decision.
Terra Linda, the sixth-seeded team in the tournament, was coming off of a 4-3 win in nine innings against the third-seed Tamalpais.

They wasted no time in jumping on the second-seed Cougars, scoring six runs in the first inning. They did so in a combination of bunts and line drives that had Albany on their heels.
Albany loaded the bases in the first but failed to score, and trailed 8-0 in the third before they scored their only run. It came on an RBI liner to center by Molly Cohen, that turned into a bases loaded force out.

Albany could get no closer.
Lindsay Baker smashed a nice double in the fifth inning, but Albany failed to get her in. Lila Rosenfeld and Allie Presher pitched well in relief as Terra Linda scored only three runs over the final six innings.
The loss ended a great season for the Cougars under coach Stephanie Vasarhely.
Albany won 9 of its 11 games at and outscored their opposition 130-81 throughout the season.
