Support the Albany Community Foundation on November 11!

Tuesday, November 11 Community Support Day: 1% for the Albany Community Foundation

The Whole Foods Market, 1025 Gilman St. Berkeley recently opened with the first week of operation declared Community Giving Week. Each day 1% of store sales will benefit a different local nonprofit. An opportunity to publicize their projects and events is part of this celebration.

On Tuesday, November 11, the Albany Community Foundation will be the beneficiary of this program.

The purpose of the Albany Community Foundation is to expand charitable giving and volunteerism in Albany. ACF sponsors and/or partners with other local service organizations to implement beneficial projects and fill unmet needs. Our main focus areas are Events and Festivals, Public Art, Recreation and Social Services, and Beautification.

We provide yearly funding for the mental health interns serving students in the Albany Schools. ACF provides funding for the Mercy Brown Bag program at the Albany Senior Center.

ACF constructed and maintains the information Kiosk on Solano Avenue. You will see ACF members working at the Friends of Albany Parks cleanup projects and painting the retaining wall on Jackson St.

Each year ACF presents the “Artist of the Year” award to people or groups who live or work in Albany that have made important contributions to the arts.

Through the generous contributions of many individuals and organizations, ACF provided financial support to Project Hope supporting those transitioning away from homelessness in Albany.

Our main fundraiser each year is the Chocolate and Champagne Gala which we host in partnership with the Albany Education Foundation. The upcoming Gala will be on Saturday, February 14 – what a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
