Video: Golf Tournament Raises More Than $26,000 for High School Sports
The Albany High Athletic Boosters fell short of last year's $44,000.
Sunshine burst forth just as 94 golfers strode onto the Tilden Park Golf Course on Friday to take part in the Albany High School Athletic Boosters "Save Our Sports" golf tournament. Organizer Fred Brown estimated the event raised $26,000 to $36,000. The tournament went well, but failed to raise enough to balance the estimated deficit in the high school athletics budget, which was ; it is expected to be about the same this year. The sports programs cost about $200,000 to run, so volunteers must step in to fill the gap.
