With less than one week until the first day of school for the Albany Unified School District, a shout out to last-minute parent-planners on new enrollment requirements.

Is there really only one more week until school starts? Yikes!
If you’re like some of us, you’re (embarrassingly) behind on that “must do” check-list for next Wednesday, Aug. 24: the . Yes, there’s the new clothes, binders and pencils; and lunch makings or school lunch forms.

Note: Re-registration is a different process from initial registration. If you’re starting out in the Albany Schools, check the school district’s enrollment page for more information; an appointment is required.

What: Re-registration
Whom: All Albany Unified School District students, K-12
How: Go to the , in portables in .
Bring:
- Parent or guardian’s ID (driver’s license, passport)
- Property deed or rental agreement
- Two other forms proving Albany residence, such as utility bills, W2 forms, bank statement, pay stubs, public assistance documents
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What: State’s new adolescent whooping cough or pertussis vaccination or booster (called Tdap)
Whom: Required for all 2011-12 students entering grades seven to 12
How: Get a vaccine through your health provider or a public clinic. Check the Alameda County Health Department for a list of clinics offering the vaccine, or call 510-267-8000.
Bring: Proof of immunization
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
