Peyton's Preparation is Inspiring

During the Sunday Night Football game on NBC last night, Cris Collinsworth said Peyton Manning gets rid of the ball in 2.7 seconds on average. That is mind-blowing.

Mind-blowing is a phrase that gets thrown around a lot. I recently heard someone say the James Franco version of Planet of the Apes was “mind-blowing.” Seriously? You mean the 700th movie about apes being smarter than humans and overtaking society made you rethink the purposes of life? That person needs to get out more. Peyton Manning is truly mind-blowing.

2.7 seconds. It takes some people that long to get off a comfy couch. 2.7 seconds to decide where to throw the ball with multiple 300 pound juggernauts coming at him, defenders with insane speed covering his targets, and on top of that has to make a near flawless throw. Being a successful NFL quarterback is so difficult that there are only about 10 truly successful ones right now. 10 out of the millions that try.

Peyton Manning’s success is mainly contributed to preparation. He prepares relentlessly. We can all put forth the preparation Manning does in our lives. Imagine if everyone prepared as much for their job as Manning does for his. Our productivity would increase dramatically. Society would improve dramatically. Student’s grades would increase, there would be less glitches in technology, less financial problems, an overall increase in quality of life.

We should all strive to be as successful as Peyton Manning is as a quarterback in our field of work. Try it for a week. Take a little extra time to prepare for school or work and see how it effects your performance. Success is when opportunity meets preparation. Don’t let a lack of preparation keep you from achieving greatness.
