Ready, Set, Go! Thousands Head to Newport Beach for OC Marathon

About 3,000 runners are expected to amass at the starting line in front of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa,

A field of about 3,000 runners from 45 states and 20 nations is expected for Sunday’s 11th annual OC Marathon, according to organizers.

The 26-mile, 385-yard marathon course will begin in front of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, then wind through Corona del Mar and the Newport Harbor area.

The course continues through Costa Mesa, passes the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, goes around the South Coast Plaza and through Segerstrom High School.

The runners will then run one mile in Santa Ana, then turn onto the Santa Ana River Trail for 1.5 miles, exiting at the Gisler foot bridge to run through the Mesa Verde neighborhoods and then the “Bird Streets.” The race will end at the OC Fair and Event Center.
