Threat Made Against Oak Grove Elementary; School Still in Session
Officials believe the threat wasn't credible enough to warrant a shutdown.

Police presence is increased at Oak Grove Elementary School in Aliso Viejo this morning following a threat made against the school.
School officials were made aware of the threat Friday and spent, along with members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, all weekend assessing it, said Stephen Nichols, spokesman for the Capistrano Unified School District.
“There’s been no information that we need to keep kids out of school,” Nichols said. The increased deputy presence is “out of an abundance of caution,” he said.

An email went out to parents last night, Nichols said, warning them of the situation. Attendance information was not immediately available, but a parent at the site says the numbers appear to be much lower than normal.
The threat against Oak Grove comes almost two weeks after another Aliso Viejo school, private St. Mary’s, was also the target of a threat. In that case, the school closed down for two days. Authorities determined the threat came from outside the United States.
