
Kidspace Announces its Spring Calendar featuring Caterpillars, Butterflies, Rubber Ducks, and More!
PASADENA, CALIF. (March 4, 2013) – During the months of April, May, and June Kidspace will feature programs, workshops, and special events that invite kids of all ages to discover the natural world. The offerings this spring include the much beloved Grand Butterfly Release, now in its 17th year, Make Your Mark & Rubber Duck Races, Free Family Nights, featuring musical and dance performances from award-winning artists, special seasonal daily programming, as well as special programming for schools and groups.

“Spring is a special time here at Kidspace. This season has traditionally been a time when we are able to reveal the magic of the change that guests see happening around them and help them discover the amazing world that waits in their own backyard,” said Susan Cardosi-Albert, Kidspace’s Retail & Communications Manager.
Here are a few of the special events that will be taking place this spring:

- Free Family Night - Tuesday, April 2, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Admission is free from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at 6:00 p.m., Zhiming Han and Cynthia Hsiang will perform and share some history behind Chinese culture and music.
- 17th Annual Grand Butterfly Release - Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., During this two-day event, over 1000 Painted Lady Butterflies will be released into the Kidspace Gardens. Each day will also be filled with fun and engaging, butterfly-themed activities. Guests are invited to bring and release the butterfly they adopted during the Kidspace Caterpillar Adoption Days.
- Free Family Night - Tuesday, May 7, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Admission is free from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at 6:00 p.m. Manipuri Dance Vision will perform the classical Manipuri style of dance in the Stone Hollow Amphitheater.
- David Derrick Book Signing - Saturday, May 11, 1:00 p.m., Illustrator and author David Derrick will be visiting and will read his latest picture book, perform an illustration demonstration, and draw with the kids.
- Member Appreciation Days - Saturday, May 25, to Monday, May 27, Kidspace members receive 20% off merchandise in the Busy Bee Learning Store during this weekend only and enter the Members Only Raffle to win a basket full of books and toys!
- Make Your Mark - Saturday, May 25, to Monday, May 27, 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Become a permanent part of Kidspace by purchasing and painting a ceramic tile to be mounted on the wall of the S. Mark Taper Climbing Towers at Kidspace.
- Rubber Duck Races - Saturday, May 25, to Monday, May 27, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Purchase a rubber duck from the Busy Bee Learning Store, then decorate, and race your rubber duck down the Interpretive Arroyo in the Kidspace Gardens.
- Free Family Night - Tuesday, June 4, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Admission is free from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at 6:00 p.m. the award-winning Pasadena Scottish Pipes and Drums will perform and march through the Central Courtyard.
- 4th Annual Bug Fair - Saturday, June 29, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Insect enthusiasts, educators, and bug professionals will offer dynamic presentations, conduct demonstrations, and sell insect specimens (living and prepared).

Located on nearly three and a half acres in Pasadena, California, Kidspace Children’s Museum has more than 40 hands-on exhibits, in addition to its outdoor spaces, programs, and activities that are designed to encourage a child’s growth and development through exploration of the environment, investigation in science, and artistic expression. Kidspace is located at 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., in Brookside Park, Pasadena, California, adjacent to the Rose Bowl Stadium. Free parking is available in Rose Bowl Parking Lot I. Kidspace is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Kidspace is open seven days a week between Memorial and Labor Days). Admission for all adults and children one year and older is $10.00. Children under one year and members are free.
