Three seats on the Altadena Library District's Board of Trustees will be on November's ballot, and August 12 is the deadline for candidates to run.

August 12 is the deadline for candidates to file to run for the Altadena Library Board of Trustees office, which will be voted on in November's general election.
The Altadena Library District is independent from the county and is funded directly from Altadena resident's property taxes. The district is governed by the five-member Board of Trustees.
Members serve four year terms, and three seats will be open in November's election. The current incumbents holding those seats are David Datz, Thomas Hubbard, and Gwendolyn McMullins.

In the 2007 election, when two of the three incumbents whose terms are expiring were elected, turnout was relatively low, with the highest single vote getter, Thomas Hubbard, receiving 1,502 votes. Altadena residents could vote for up to three candidates, and there were more than 24,000 registered voters in Altadena at the time.
