Matthew Perry's Personal Items, ‘Friends’ Memorabilia Head To Auction After Actor's Death
The auction is set to benefit a nonprofit focused on expanding access to treatment and reducing stigma surrounding substance use disorders.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Personal items owned by the late Matthew Perry — including memorabilia from the hit TV show "Friends" — will go up for auction next month as part of a charity effort supporting addiction recovery programs.
“The Matthew Perry Estate Auction” is set to take place June 5, with proceeds benefiting the Matthew Perry Foundation, a nonprofit focused on expanding access to treatment and reducing stigma surrounding substance use disorders.
Heritage Auctions said the collection offers a window into Perry’s personal interests and professional milestones, while also serving a broader purpose tied to the actor’s advocacy work.

“Matthew Perry was someone people felt they truly knew,” said Joe Maddalena, executive vice president at Heritage Auctions. “This auction brings together the personal items and passions that shaped his life … and allows that connection to do real good.”
Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on “Friends,” was also outspoken about his struggles with addiction and became an advocate for recovery later in life. He died in 2023 of a ketamine overdose.

The foundation established in his name supports a range of initiatives aimed at improving access to evidence-based care and supporting individuals in recovery.
According to the organization, funds raised from the auction will help support programs including a fellowship in addiction medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, grants for grassroots recovery organizations and partnerships such as Healing Appalachia, a large sober music festival focused on recovery awareness.
