Search for Armed Suspect Yields Nothing
Authorities reportedly involved in brief altercation with suspect who fled from deputies near border of Altadena and Pasadena.

Authorities from the Altadena Sheriff's Station set up a containment Sunday afternoon to find an armed man who allegedly pushed a deputy and took off running.
The incident happened before 6 p.m. on North Fair Oaks Drive and West Montana Street in an area of Pasadena near the Altadena border. Deputies saw the man who looked suspicious and when they attempted to make contact with the individual, he allegedly pushed the deputy and took off running, said Sergeant Dennis Dominguez of the Altadena Sheriff's Station. The suspect was allegedly armed with a handgun.
The suspect fled south on Fair Oaks and turned onto West Montana Street toward El Sereno Avenue. At that point, deputies, who initiated a foot chase, lost sight of the suspect.
A containment was set up to locate the suspect, but the search turned up nothing, Dominguez said.
According to scanner reports, a passerby in the area reported the man had been running through backyards northbound near El Sereno.
"We have our gang unit looking in to see if they have any individuals that may match that description. It's on ongoing investigation," Dominguez said.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet two inches, 220 pounds. He wore a white tank top, black shorts, a metal stud under his lower lip and had tattoos on both shoulders.
