Hahamongna's Johnson Field Before and After (Photos)

The Devil's Gate Dam sediment removal project has led to on-site storage of mud and debris at an area of the park known as Johnson Field. The following photos show the area before the project and in its current state with the sediment in place.

The above photos, taken by local cyclist and outdoor enthusiast Dorothy Wong, illustrate the changes going on in part of the Hahamongna Watershed Park since the beginning of the 'Little Dig' project of removal of sediment from the Devil's Gate Dam for on-site storage at the Johnson Field area of the park.

The decision to store the sediment on-site was made after multiple public meetings in which the County Department of Public Works weighed the merits of hauling the debris out and increasing truck traffic on local streets, or keeping it in the park and piling it up.
