Loma Alta Farmer's Market Could Start in October
Al Evans of the County Parks and Recreation Department tells Patch that while the market has not received final approval, it could be coming as soon as October.

A farmer's market could be coming to Altadena as soon as October, according to county officials.
The county is negotiating with a single market manager to run the , and hopes to have a final contract soon, according to Al Evans of the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department.
As first reported on the Altadenablog, that manager is Joseph Shuldiner, a local food advocate involved with the Altadena Urban Farmer's Market.

Evans said the county is negotiating final terms with Shuldiner and has eliminated other potential market managers as candidates to run the market. Assuming negotiations are successful, the department will seek final county approval and Shuldiner can begin organizing the market.
The market will ultimately be held on Wednesday afternoons, according to Evans.

Having someone familiar with Altadena to run the market was a top priority for the county, Evans said.
"It's critical to have a local person who knows local people so we have public support for the market," Evans said.

The farmer's market has been under discussion for almost a year, with April the original proposed start date. The original market manager the county lined up , delaying a process that had already taken several months to get going.
