Mount Miguel is Cooking its Way to Alzheimer's Prevention with Dr. Marwan Sabbagh
Greater San Diego area seniors and caregivers learn brain smart recipes with nationally-known author and chef
On January 13, 2015, Mount Miguel Covenant Village, a faith-based, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities, is hosting Dr. Marwan Sabbagh, research professor of Neurology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and co-author of The Alzheimer’s Prevention Cookbook: Recipes to Boost Brain Health. During the seminar, he will educate area seniors on specific foods you can eat to lower the risk of brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and boost brain health.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in America, and according to the Alzheimer’s Association, death from Alzheimer’s disease has risen 68 percent since 2000. While there is still no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, scientific studies have proven that specific foods can lower the risk of cognitive decline.
During the event, attendees will learn about specific types of foods such as, cinnamon, fish and pomegranates that will boost brain activity and help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Dr. Sabbagh will also provide flavorful recipes that are healthy and preventative for attendees to try at home.
