• Newsom signs bill intended to protect rebuilding in Altadena – [your]NEWS (yournews.com) — A new state law pauses most housing-density upzoning in Altadena through 2030, giving fire survivors and local homeowners more control as they rebuild after the Eaton Fire. The bill aims to keep outside speculators from rapidly packing single-family lots with multi-unit projects that could reshape neighborhood character and affordability debates. 
• Mosquito treatments planned in Altadena, Monterey Park (nbclosangeles.com) — Overnight mosquito control spraying is scheduled this Wednesday and Thursday in a defined Altadena neighborhood between Glenrose and Marengo, from Mariposa down to Woodbury, to cut disease-carrying mosquito populations. Crews will apply both adulticide and larvicide, and residents in the treatment zone will be notified through postings and online alerts before the work begins.
