• Assembly unanimously backs SB 1090 to pause some density rules in Altadena after Eaton Fire (sidekick.news) — State lawmakers have advanced SB 1090, a bill that would pause certain state housing density rules in fire-hit Altadena for three years to address displacement concerns after the Eaton Fire. The measure, dubbed the "Keep Altadena Lands in Altadena Hands Act," passed the Assembly unanimously and now moves forward, though details on exactly which rules would be frozen are still emerging. 
• SCE says it has paid hundreds of millions in Eaton Fire claims, expects billions more (sidekick.news) — Southern California Edison says it has already paid hundreds of millions in Eaton Fire compensation and expects total costs to reach into the billions, underscoring the scale of damage in Altadena. Investigators from Cal Fire and Los Angeles County Fire concluded SCE equipment sparked the blaze, and the utility outlined its safety and community-recovery efforts during a state wildfire-safety review.
