Wildlife Walks Return to Altadena's Mountain View Mausoleum (coloradoboulevard.net) — Altadena residents can join Pasadena Humane's guided wildlife walks at Mountain View Mausoleum, with the final evening walk of the year set for Friday, September 25 and additional early-morning dates through December. For a small ticket fee, you'll explore the historic cemetery grounds, learn about local plants and animals, and maybe even spot resident owls while slowing down in a peaceful neighborhood setting.
   

2. Six Homes, Six Months: A Corner of Altadena Comes Back (pasadenanow.com) — Altadena families in the La Viña neighborhood are finally moving back into six newly rebuilt homes just six months after the devastating Eaton Fire, offering a hopeful sign for the wider community's recovery. County officials say about 100 Altadena homes are now fully rebuilt, with more than 3,000 permits issued but thousands of property owners still yet to start, underscoring how long full rebuilding will take.
   

3. LA County declares its own local emergency as fierce El Niño storms loom (pasadenastarnews.com) — Los Angeles County has declared a local emergency ahead of an expectedly strong El Niño, and officials specifically flag Altadena as a high-risk area for flooding and debris flows after recent wildfires. Altadena residents are urged to clear gutters, consider flood insurance, prepare evacuation plans, stock extra supplies, and sign up for county emergency alerts so they can act quickly when heavy rains arrive.
   

4. Ghost Fans Rally To Support Mountain View Mausoleum (metalanarchy.com) — Fans of the band Ghost are helping restore Altadena's historic Mountain View Mausoleum, which was damaged in the Eaton fires and has become a beloved filming site. A local fan group has already raised nearly $4,000 and will host small-group tours on October 3, with proceeds supporting preservation of this unique piece of Altadena's architectural and cultural history.
   

5. Rebuilding Eaton Canyon Nature Center: LA County seeking donations to plug cost gap (pasadenastarnews.com) — Plans are moving ahead to rebuild the fire-destroyed Eaton Canyon Nature Center just next to Altadena, with Los Angeles County now seeking donations to close a roughly $16 million funding gap. The redesigned, fire-resilient center would restore a hugely popular, close-to-home nature gateway for Altadena and Pasadena families, but the park remains closed indefinitely while officials pursue public and private support.
