Rescuers Carry Drunken Hiker Off Echo Mountain
Authorities say it was ill-advised for an extremely intoxicated man to hike in the forest near Altadena late Wednesday night.
ALTADENA, CA -- A drunken hiker was rescued while hiking Echo Mountain in the Angeles National Forest, authorities said Thursday.
The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team received a call around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday about the man, who had last been seen on the Sam Merill trail, just south of Echo Mountain, according to the sheriff's Altadena Station.
Rescuers hiked a mile from Mt. Lowe Fire Road and found the hiker, a 52- year-old Glendale man. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was not able to sit up on his own, authorities said.
