Since beginning my journey with intuitive energy healing years ago, I've had the pleasure of working with many different people. Everyone from the believer in "all things spiritual" to the ones who "don't really understand this stuff, but thought they'd give it a try." There have been those who've tried everything and nothing worked, and had nothing to lose by trying energy healing. And the proverbial Doubting Thomas' who sit before me and say, "I don't really believe in any of this stuff."
I love Doubting Thomas' because I can relate to them. I personally don't take things on face value, I need hard evidence I can sink my teeth into before I'll believe something. I definitely have a "prove it to me" aspect to my personality. Even though working with Doubting Thomas' are challenging, they're one of my favorite types of clients to work with. I respect their skeptical nature and they're inability to believe in something, unless they see it or experience for themselves. But above all else, I just LOVE how Spirit always comes through for them by delivering a personal message or a personal feeling that only they know to be true.
The Biblical story of Doubting Thomas is a shining example of the skeptic who refuses to believe anything without proof. Ralph E. Wilson in 2003 relayed his view of the Doubting Thomas story and wrote how the Apostles proclaimed that they saw Jesus after his resurrection: to which Thomas responded, "I don't believe it. I don't believe a word of it. You're seeing what you want to see. Jesus is dead, I saw him die...and the sooner you accept it the better off you'll be. Give it up! Unless I see the nail marks on his hands and put my hand into his side I will not believe it!"
Years ago I had a client sitting before me who had the following response to my routine question of what he wanted to focus on in his session: "I'm only here because my wife wanted me to come. I don't really believe in this stuff." I graciously let him know that I was sorry, but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to help him and the session would be futile since he was only there because his wife wanted him to be. He vehemently responded, "No, no I'm open-minded. I want to see what she's talking about." So, I suggested that we stop talking and begin the energy healing part of the session and let the energy do what it does.
After his energy healing was complete, he stepped off the table, sat down in the chair, and I proceeded to give him the intuitive impressions that I received during his treatment. I gave him information about his work, his personality, and how to manage his employees at work. Long story short, he walked out believing that there was definitely something to "all this stuff" because as Spirit always does, a specific message came through for him, telling him exactly what he needed to hear, in the exact phraseology that he needed to hear it. I've come to believe that whenever I come across a Doubting Thomas they're searching for a way to connect with something larger than themselves.
No matter what your belief system - Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, agnostic, etc. - I'm absolutely 100% certain that Spirit is around you waiting to engage. All you need to do is allow it to happen. In the Doubting Thomas story, Thomas needed to stick his finger in Jesus' flesh before he'd believe he was resurrected and real. But evidence of Spirit can be as simple as kindness between strangers, hearing a particular song on the radio, or seeing a butterfly across your path. Spirit shows up in many forms. This month I invite you to believe in the perfection of Spirit in your life and notice how Spirit reveals itself to you. Take a moment to see what shows up in your life - and BELIEVE it.
