• Mother of 7 Fatally Struck by Car While Trying to Rescue Her Dog After He Was Hit by Another Vehicle (people.com) — An 86-year-old Apple Valley grandmother was struck and killed on Waalew Road while trying to rescue her injured dog, leading deputies to close the roadway for several hours Friday night. Both she and the cooperating driver were Apple Valley residents, and investigators say drugs and alcohol were not factors. Family members have launched a GoFundMe for a memorial, and deputies are seeking additional witnesses.
   

• Apple Valley Man Identified as Driver Killed in Crash Involving Semi-Truck on Hesperia Road in Victorville (vvng.com) — A 32-year-old Apple Valley resident was killed when his Jeep collided head-on with a semi-truck on Hesperia Road in Victorville early Friday morning, prompting hours-long road closures. Investigators believe DUI was a contributing factor, while the truck driver was uninjured and cooperated. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Victorville Sheriff’s Station or submit anonymous tips through We-Tip.
