Barricaded Suspect Arrested After Eight-Hour Standoff In Apple Valley (vvng.com) — An eight-hour police standoff on Rimrock Road East in Apple Valley ended safely Wednesday night when a 63-year-old local man surrendered to deputies after allegedly firing a gun illegally. Specialized Enforcement Division teams responded, and the suspect was booked into High Desert Detention Center on firearm charges. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Apple Valley Police Station or Sheriff’s Dispatch.
   

2. Body found in Apple Valley amid search for missing 90-year-old man (vvdailypress.com) — Deputies searching for 90-year-old Heinz Dieter Wolf in Apple Valley found a man’s body Thursday night near where his pickup was discovered off Juniper Flats and Valley View roads. Identification is still pending, but investigators are keeping the case open and asking anyone with information to contact the Victor Valley sheriff’s station or WeTip hotline.
   

3. Verizon offers $25,000 reward due to vandalism across Southern California (vvdailypress.com) — Verizon is offering a $25,000 reward after vandals repeatedly cut fiber cables across Southern California, a problem that has previously knocked out internet and phone service for many Apple Valley residents. Past incidents left Spectrum and Verizon customers here without Wi‑Fi or data, and authorities say such attacks threaten public safety. Anyone who witnesses vandalism is urged to call 911 and then Verizon Security.
   

4. Apple Valley's continuity starts long before Friday nights (desertsun.com) — Apple Valley High School’s football program is building long-term strength by developing players from youth leagues through varsity under head coach Robert Meras. Former Sun Devils Anthony Morales and Sam Jang now run an intensive strength and conditioning program, helping current players like Chase Higgs and Lucas Arceo grow confident, prepared and physically ready for Mojave River League competition.
