• Santa Cruz's Tobin Ortenblad takes fourth in Fuego XL at 2026 Sea Otter Classic (fresnobee.com) — An Aptos runner, Allen Bjur, claimed second place in the Santa Cruz Westside Half Marathon, and fellow Aptos athlete Courtney Dimpel finished 43rd in the Fuego XL at the Sea Otter Classic. The roundup also highlights strong showings by several Santa Cruz County athletes in cycling, running, golf, and boys volleyball across regional and national competitions.
   

• SD Trombetta Foundation (insidephilanthropy.com) — Aptos’ Cabrillo College receives significant ongoing support from the SD Trombetta Foundation, which helps fund the Margo Trombetta Children’s Peace and Anti-Bias Library on campus. The small, family-run foundation mainly backs established health, human services, education, and climate nonprofits, especially in California, but does not accept unsolicited proposals.
