Pretty As A Peacock In Arcadia: Photo of the Week

This peacock was caught posing at the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia.

ARCADIA, CA — Arcadia resident Shane Nichols captured this scene at the Arboretum over the weekend.

"I was inspired by this peacock because he jumped up on the pot as I walked up, like he wanted me to take his picture," he said.

The Arcadia peacocks were introduced here by Elias "Lucky" Baldwin in the late 1800’s.

"Since then they have thrived, becoming, like sparrows and pigeons, a naturalized species," Nichols said.

A born and raised Arcadian, Nichols loves taking pictures of the colorful birds, enjoying the multi-hues and textures of the feathers.
