It's PG&E (kymkemp.com) — Expect low-flying PG&E helicopters over Arcata this month as crews scan local powerlines and nearby vegetation for wildfire risks using LiDAR and high‑resolution cameras. Flights run daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through late May across Humboldt County, with occasional hovering as low as 200 feet to pinpoint where safety work is needed.
   

5. ‘There will be many more bites at this apple'; Supervisors reapprove HCSO oversight plan (times-standard.com) — Humboldt County supervisors have again voted, 3–2, to form an ad hoc committee that will draft a civilian-led oversight proposal for the Sheriff’s Office, after redoing an earlier Brown Act–tainted vote. Arcata resident Tyler Vaughn Sanchez and others argued elections alone don’t provide enough accountability, while opponents warned about costs and duplicating existing oversight as the draft ordinance heads toward a September deadline.
