ā¢ Arvin Wildflower Festival canceled after cost concerns, permitting requirements (bakersfieldnow.com) ā Arvinās long-running Wildflower Festival at Smothermon Park was called off this year after the Chamber of Commerce said new permitting rules and police fees made it too costly. City officials counter that requirements havenāt changed and note the council had already approved the permit with standard public safety conditions. The festivalās future now depends on renewed talks between the Chamber and city leaders.
