• Mental Health Diversion Defendant Sentenced to Life in Prison For Subsequent Murder (placermercury.com) — A Placer County jury in a case based in Auburn has sentenced a man to life in prison without parole for a 2023 murder tied to a body dumped in Rocklin. Prosecutors say he was already in California’s mental health diversion program for prior violent felonies, prompting renewed calls from the DA’s office for reforms to keep dangerous offenders from reoffending.
