• Auburn woman relocates farm animals after bear attacks on chicken coop (kcra.com) — An Auburn woman moved her chickens and ducks off-site after a mother bear and her cubs twice tore apart her backyard coop, killing several birds and damaging her property. She’s now planning a much stronger enclosure before bringing the animals back, a reminder for Auburn residents to secure livestock and be cautious about close encounters with local wildlife. 
• Placer County Board of Supervisors Calls for Legislative Action to Restore Wage Parity for Goat Herders (placersentinel.com) — Placer County supervisors, meeting in Auburn, are pressing state lawmakers to fix a sudden wage gap between goat and sheep herders that they say threatens prescribed grazing programs used around Auburn to cut wildfire fuel. The board warns that without quick legislative action, grazing operators may scale back work just as state and local agencies lean more on goats and sheep to protect communities.
