• Behind the Scenes of Documenting America's Most Competitive Ultramarathon (trailrunnermag.com) — Auburn’s Placer High School track once again served as the dramatic finish line for this year’s Western States 100, with multiple course records falling in unusually cool conditions. Two photographers recount chasing elite runners from Olympic Valley through Foresthill and the American River to Auburn, capturing everything from pre-dawn climbs to the emotional “golden hour” for back-of-the-pack finishers.
   

• Placer Co Supervisor Has I-80 Big Rig Concerns (knco.com) — A Placer County supervisor who regularly commutes between Tahoe City and Auburn is pushing for stronger oversight of big rigs on I-80 after another serious crash in the Sierra. Cindy Gustafson plans to gather state, federal, and local leaders to address rising truck-related fires and wildfire risks, and to launch a broad safety and public-awareness campaign along the corridor.
