The Catalina Chimes Tower Foundation is celebrating the chimes’ centennial, recognizing volunteers like Jani and Charlie Canby, and inviting community support to preserve this iconic Avalon landmark for future generations.

• Ocean Club gets youths out in nature (thecatalinaislander.com) — Avalon families have a new way to get kids in the water this fall as the NAC Avalon Ocean Club expands its ocean sports and safety programs, including a new Lobster Rolls group for ages 7–8. Recognized by Love Catalina, the club’s fall season runs Sept. 10–Oct. 17, with limited spots and a focus on confidence, skills, and ocean stewardship.
