Baldwin Park: Dense Fog Blankets SGV As Weather Warms

With high humidity, dense layer of fog settled over the San Gabriel Valley Thursday, with more dense fog possible Friday.

BALDWIN PARK, CA — Dense fog is shrouding much of the Southland Thursday morning.

A dense fog advisory issued by the National Weather Service was in force until 9 a.m. Thursday morning in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, L.A. County beach cities, metropolitan Los Angeles including downtown L.A., the Hollywood Hills, and parts of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

LAX saw delays due to fog advisories.

The weather service attributed the fog to a mass of moist air trapped beneath a ridge of high pressure.

The NWS said the fog is reducing visibility to a quarter-mile or less, creating dangerous driving conditions. In Los Angeles County, according to the NWS, the fog made driving a challenge on freeways from the 5, 101, 118, 170, 210, 405, 10, 57, 60, 210, 605 and 710.

Motorists driving in the fog should reduce speeds, leave extra space between themselves and vehicles in front of them, use only low beams and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations, the NWS urged.
