80-year-old Baldwin Park Woman Killed in Irwindale Hit-and-run

An 80-year-old woman fatally struck in Irwindale by a hit-and-run driver was identified today.

Cu Lee Nguyen of Baldwin Park died in the accident at Live Oak and Steward avenues shortly after 6 a.m. Friday, according to Irwindale police and a coroner's spokesman.

Nguyen died at the scene, Irwindale police Lt. Mario Camacho said.

Nguyen was walking north across Live Oak Avenue in a crosswalk when she was struck by a westbound compact car -- possibly a gray Ford Focus -- that likely had sustained front-end damage, Camacho said.

The motorist may have been a woman.

Anyone with more information as to the name of the hit-and-run driver or the whereabouts of the vehicle was urged to call Irwindale police at (626) 430-2244.
