• Ex-council members from Baldwin Park and Compton sentenced to federal prison on bribery charges (laist.com) — A former Baldwin Park city councilmember has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for taking bribes tied to a police union contract and marijuana business permits in the city. Prosecutors say he accepted tens of thousands of dollars, while a former Compton councilmember also received 18 months for paying him bribes and failing to report income, with restitution still to be finalized.
