18 Sheep Killed In Domenigoni Parkway Crash: CHP
The crash was reported early Thursday near SR-79, according to the California Highway Patrol.

WINCHESTER, CA — More than a dozen sheep were hit and killed on a Winchester roadway early Thursday, reports indicate. It happened along Domenigoni Parkway, just east of SR-79/Winchester Road around 3 a.m.
According to CHP Officer Darren Meyer, a Hemet man was driving a blue Ford Explorer westbound when he didn't see the animals standing in the roadway. He slammed into them, killing 18 and injuring an unknown number more.
"The driver was not injured, but the vehicle was significantly damaged and had to be towed from the scene," Meyer said.

The owner of the sheep was apparently called to the scene, along with animal control officials. It's not clear why the sheep were in the roadway, but there are often sheep in the adjacent fields in the area.
The westbound lanes of were closed Domenigoni for the investigation but reopened before 4 a.m.
