2 Dead In Ramona Expressway Crash, Fire Officials Report

Fire officials say that two people on a motorcycle were killed early Friday.

NUEVO, CA — Two people died early Friday after colliding head-on with a pickup truck while they were on a motorcycle, fire officials report. The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. along Ramona Expressway at Martin Street.

"The first arriving engine company reported a head-on traffic collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle," April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department said. "Two patients on the motorcycle perished at the scene."

The person who was inside the pickup truck was hospitalized with minor injuries, according to Newman.

The motorcycle was in the eastbound lane when it collided with a Toyota Tundra, but it was not immediately clear which vehicle drifted into the wrong lane, according to the California Highway Patrol, who is investigating the crash.

The expressway was completely shut down until 7:45 a.m. while the CHP conducted a preliminary investigation and cleared the wreckage.
