2 Vigils, Peace March For Orlando Shooting Victims Planned Tonight In Riverside County

One is outside Riverside City Hall, and the other is in Desert Hot Springs.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY CA -- - A candlelight vigil and peace march are planned tonight in downtown Riverside in honor of the victims of the Orlando shooting massacre.   

Assemblyman Jose Medina, D-Riverside, and other local officials are scheduled to gather at the Martin Luther King Jr. statue outside Riverside City Hall at 7:30 p.m.   

After remarks by organizers, participants will walk around the civic center, carrying banners, signs and pictures calling attention to the mass killing perpetrated over the weekend at a gay nightclub by 29-year-old security guard Omar Mateen, who pledged allegiance to ISIS while carrying out the attack.

Meantime, in Desert Hot Springs, a section of the main library will be dedicated tonight to LGBT Pride, followed by a remembrance ceremonysponsored by the city's Human Rights Committee at Guy J. Tedesco Park.
