70 MPH Gusts Possible In Pass Area During Strong Santa Ana Winds
Gusty conditions begin late Tuesday evening and on Wednesday, forecasters said, growing with intensity across the Inland Empire Wednesday.

BANNING, CA — Gusty Santa Ana winds will slam the Riverside County Pass Area this week, prompting a high wind warning for parts of the county.
The gusty conditions will begin late Tuesday evening and become more intense and widespread on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
"The strongest winds are expected in inland areas near the foothills on Wednesday morning," according to the National Weather Service.

The high wind watch is in effect from7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 p.m. Wednesday for the mountains and valleys. Sustained northeast winds from 25 to 35 mph are expected in those areas, according to the NWS. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible in the mountains and valleys, while isolated gusts up to 70 mph are possible in the mountains.
Affected areas include much of the Inland Empire, and especially the San Gorgonio Pass area near Banning. Idyllwild-Pine Cove would also feel the impacts of sustained 35 mph winds and strong gusts.

The winds will blow hard enough to potentially down trees and power lines and make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, according to the NWS.
"Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation," forecasters advised. "Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds."
