PERRIS, CA — Firefighters have stopped the spread of a brush fire that erupted in an open field in Perris on Thursday afternoon, charring at least 24 acres, officials said.
The brush fire was reported just before 3:30 p.m. near Pinnacle Street and Ethanac Road, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple fire crews responded to the blaze and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate through medium vegetation.
Cal Fire aircraft were immediately requested, but as of 3:50 p.m., they had not initiated operations.
Firefighters were working to establish hose lays to cut off the head of the brusher.
At 4:49 p.m., fire officials said crews were able to stop the forward spread of the blaze.
No evacuation were issued, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
