UPDATE: 'Armed and Dangerous Man' Caught in Redlands, Police Say

Redlands police warned people of a possibly armed man in the area of Redlands Boulevard and Alabama Street.

UPDATE 10:48 a.m.: Redlands police say that a man believed to be armed with a gun in the area of Redlands Boulevard and Alabama Street has been caught just minutes ago.

Officers say at 10:40 a.m., RPD located Dwight Armon Willett and took him into custody.

Original story: REDLANDS, CA — Redlands police are warning the community of a possibly armed man who has threatened to shoot police officers, prompting the lockdown of several area businesses and schools.

The incident was first reported around 9:30 a.m. in the area of Redlands Boulevard and Alabama Street.

52-year-old Dwight Armon Willett is sought in connection to the case, Redlands police posted on Facebook.

Here is the full update from Redlands PD:

"RPD is actively searching for Dwight Amon Willett, 52-years old and a known transient. He was last seen fleeing on foot wearing a blue or white shirt, blue jean shorts, and flip flops in the area of Redlands Blvd and Alabama.

Several schools and businesses in the area have put themselves on lockdown.

The subject is believed to be armed with a loaded gun and has threatened to shoot police officers.

He is wanted for felony assault and robbery. The subject is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you see this subject, do not confront him and call 911. See photo below."
