Assemblyman Brian Nestande Honors ~ Veteran of the Year 2014 ~ John & Lou Turlo ~ Assemblyman Brian Nestande honored our District 42 Veterans of the Year ~ John & Lou Turlo ~ and what a wonderful morning we had honoring the WWII Veteran's, who were also by the way twin brothers. The event was held at the Palm Spring City Hall, in Palm Springs ~ in the cool City Council Chamber.
The timing for this ceremony could not have been more apropo ~ the timing was perfect ~ the week before to the day of America's 238th Birthday, our Fourth of July. The Turlo brothers patriotism, Lt. General Herb Temple, US Army (Ret.) reswearing of retired officers (humorous symbolism), and Betty Donnelly's Armed Forces Medley truly made for Patriotic fare. To hear the retired military sing on cue their branch song. We had the: United States Army - United States Navy - United States Coast Guard - United States Air Force - United States Marine Corp., beautiful medly.
Opening remarks were from Patrick Evans CBS 2 news out of the desert, Color Guard Palm Springs American Legion Post 519, Flag Salute Major Bill Young US Air Force, National Anthem beautifully sung by Beaumont's own Officer Lyndon Peats PD, Pastor Stephen Sloat, US Navy (Ret) Invocation, and we had our "Scouts". Unfortunately I do not have the Troop# they were from, but it was so nice to see our Patriotism continuing in our youth, in our Country. They were there at the door welcoming you - they were there for whatever assistance was needed, it was appreciated, and I thank them.
Thank you to Assemblyman Brian Nestande, and thank you John & Lou Turlo, thank you Turlo brothers for your service. Assemblyman Nestande your heart continues to be not only in your District but in your Country, it was seen today. As you said you knew the songs when Betty Donnelly sang the ~ Armed Services Medley ~ your awareness of our veterans, your awareness of "Career Technical Education in Public Schools" at the Palm Desert forum on June 20th gives your district a clear idea that you bring issues to the forefront seeking solutions, thank you for that. Lastly, I so related with you . . . I too knew the songs . . . and what you brought to the venue was Patriotism ~ thank you ~
