Banning, Beaumont Area Gas Prices Drop to Lowest Amount Since March 31

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped one-tenth of a cent Tuesday to $2.973, its lowest amount since March 31.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has dropped 16 of the past 17 days, decreasing 3.6 cents, including one-tenth of a cent each of the past three days, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The decreases immediately followed a stretch of 11 increases in 12 days totaling 3.1 cents.

The average price is 1.2 cents less than one week ago and eight-tenths of a cent lower than one month ago but 21.5 cents higher than on Jan. 1 and 15.8 cents more than one year ago.

"Historically in May we tend to see prices either plateau or increase, so it's good news for drivers that they are declining for now in most areas," Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.

"So far there are no signs of dramatic movement ahead in either direction, but of course a single refinery incident or other situation can change prices pretty quickly."
