Banning, Beaumont I-10 Construction Update: Caltrans
Work on the I-10 Tune-Up is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
SAN GORGONIO PASS AREA, CA — Caltrans provided a construction update Monday morning for Interstate 10 that impacts motorists traveling through the Banning-Beaumont area.
Crews began working Monday on the eastbound shoulder behind k-rail from Ramsey Street in Beaumont to approximately Malik Road in Banning, the agency said. The work will continue this week, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Nighttime lane closures are also planned Monday night from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Crews will alternate the closures from Ramsey Street to Malik Road for k-rail installation, demolition and excavation work, the agency said.

The work is part of the I-10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, also called the I-10 Tune-Up, and it's entering its sixth month. Crews have been gradually making improvements to nearly 20 miles of roadway between Beaumont and state Route 111 north of Palm Springs.
The I-10 Tune-Up includes replacing guardrails, repaving outside lanes, replacing slabs in inside lanes and upgrading various on- and off-ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The $210 million project is primarily funded by the state gas tax, and the remainder through federal funds as well as some funding from the state, according to Caltrans.
Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
