Banning City Council Election

A most-important decision

Banning Depends on It

Election Day is approaching rapidly. For the people of Banning in Districts 4 & 5, it is imperative that Jerry Westholder and David Ellis are elected to the Banning City Council. They are honest, knowledgeable, professional, experienced in city government and care a great deal about Banning. Both of them have been attending council meetings for years and have a good handle on what is going on. We need them both on the council so that our town can move forward in an orderly manner. If Irwin and Happe get elected, they will be following the dictates of Diversified Pacific and Jeff Burum, who wants to get his project rolling so he can get his money. The project on the south side of town has many flaws, and the best for the people of Banning will be overlooked if Burum gets his way. Burum is part of "Business Leaders for Ethical Government". What a joke.

The ads that his company orchestrated for Irwin and Happe were full of lies, generalities, distorted photos, deception and hate. They are not "ethical" in any way shape or form. Happe and Irwin did not have to do a thing. Diversified spent over $22,000 each in ads for their campaigns. I would imagine they also created the slime that was on the ads. Do you know what that means? IRWIN and HAPPE ARE BEING BOUGHT BY DIVERSIFIED!

Irwin and Happe know nothing about city government. Ads say they have "experience". Doesn't say what kind?? In taking out the garbage??? We all have that experience. The ad that came out about Ellis from the "ethical" group intimated that he had something to do with the rise in violent crime. Ellis is not on the council, and you cannot even blame our present council. Spoke to acting Chief Fisher, and he said IF we had one murder last year and we had 2 this year, that would be a 100% increase. See how this "ethical" bunch are spewing lies and distortions? And everyone on the present council wants to add more police to our rosters. (They just got a raise and that may entice some to come here.) Irwin cannot hire more police, just as Happe cannot; that is a council decision, and we have not had the money to do that so far.

This is a critical election. A VOTE FOR WESTHOLDER AND ELLIS will assure us of transparency in our city government and the council will be able to do things that the other members ignored. There are many questions that have to be answered that the city has overlooked, and with Ellis and Westholder on the council, these questions will be addressed and answered. Mail your absentee ballot early so it will be counted. You may also take it to your nearest polling place and drop it off on Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 6.
