Banning Homicide Victim ID'd, Cops Seek 'Armed, Dangerous' Man

Banning police are asking for help finding a man accused of gunning down another in Banning.

BANNING, CA — Banning police on Wednesday asked for the public's help finding a man suspected of fatally shooting another in town last week. The shooting was reported Friday at 10:50 p.m. in the 300 block of East Ramsey Street, near South San Gorgonio Avenue and claimed the life of 18-year-old Alex Marcotte, according to police.

As of Wednesday, no one has been arrested in connection to Marcotte's death, but police have now identified a suspect in the case. Police say 20-year-old Brody Baca is suspected in the deadly incident and shared the above photo of the man, in the hopes that someone may recognize him.

Baca is also accused of shooting another man in the incident. He remains hospitalized.

"If Baca is seen, the Banning Police Department asks that you contact authorities immediately and do not approach Baca," police said in a news release. "Baca is considered armed and dangerous."

Police said Baca has relatives in San Bernardino, Hemet, Arizona, and Banning.

Police said the shooting is not believed to be gang-related and the motive is currently unknown.
