Banning Seeks New Planning Commissioner, Deadline Is Friday

BANNING, CA ā Do you want to help shape your community's future? The city of Banning is looking for someone to serve on the local planning commission.
The city is accepting applications through Friday for a current vacancy on the commission, which is comprised of five people who each serve four-year terms. Whomever is appointed to this opening will serve through February 2019.
"The Planning Commission plays a critical role in city government," the city says. "Planning Commissioners make decisions and recommendations on a wide range of planning and land use matters. The decisions help to shape the growth and maintain the quality of life in the city they serve."

Here's a full description of the vacancy:
The City Council of the City of Banning is accepting applications for a vacancy on the City of Banning Planning Commission. This Commission meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. It is a volunteer position and you must be a registered voter and reside in the city of Banning. You will also need to be fingerprinted and pass a background investigation.

There are certain qualifications in regards to the Planning Commissioner position and that information will be available with the application. The newly appointed commissioner will serve the remaining term of the vacant position, which expires February 2019.
Applications are available at the Information Desk or the City Clerkās Office at the Banning Civic Center, 99 E. Ramsey Street. You may also download an application on the Cityās website: www.ci.banning.ca.us Deadline to submit your application to the City Clerk is Friday, June 15, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. and applicants will be expected to attend a brief orientation session at City Hall to explain the role of commissioners on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
