Beaumont High Athletes Sign On to College Teams
The student athletes will be able to continue refining their athletic skills as they move on to the college of their choice next year.
Five Beaumont High School athletes will soon be moving on in their sports careers to play for college teams.
The group, all graduating on Friday, signed this week in a "college signing day" ceremony.

Athletic Director Martin DuSold provided the following information on the athletes to Banning-Beaumont Patch:
Malina Nelson – Wrestling – Missouri Baptist University

Malina is a 3x CIF Regional place winner, 2x CIF State place winner and national place winner during her senior season. At the USA Wrestling National Folkstyle Championships in Oklahoma City, OK in March, Malina placed 6th in the 112-lb. division to USA Wrestling All-American honors. She won three individual tournament titles during her senior season, as well.
Alyssa Fuimaono – Softball – CSU-San Bernardino
Alyssa has been awarded the past two Mt. Pass league defensive MVP awards as the league’s most outstanding pitcher, including this, her senior year. Following her junior season, she was also selected to the Press-Enterprise HS GameTime all-area team, all-CIF division 5, and the MaxPreps all-state team for medium schools. She has 73 wins, over 700 strikeouts, 122 RBI and a .410 average over her four-year career at BHS.
Kelsey Dodson – Softball – CSU-San Bernardino
During her senior year, Kelsey was selected 1st-team all-MPL as a goalie in soccer, as well as a centerfielder in softball. Following her junior year, she was selected as the MPL defensive MVP in soccer for her stellar play as a goalie, and she was also honored as a 3rd-team all-CIF selection. As she wraps up her softball season, Kelsey is currently batting over .300, and has not made an error in her centerfield position.
Landon Carr – Water Polo – Air Force Academy
Landon was selected as the co-MVP in the MPL following his senior season. In addition, he was selected 1st-team all-area by the Press-Enterprise HS GameTime staff, the CIF division 6 Player of the Year, and an All-American by the American Water Polo Coaches’ Association. He helped to lead Beaumont to the division 6 CIF championship. He also received 1st-team all-MPL and all-CIF honors following his junior season, and was a member of the boys swim team that finished as the CIF division 4 runners-up in spring of 2011.
Dejon Brown – Basketball – CSU-Stanislaus
Dejon was selected 1st-team all-MPL following his senior season in football. He was the team’s leading receiver with 17 catches for 201 yards and a TD, and was a force on defense with over seven tackles per game. He was a 1st-team all-MPL selection in basketball after his junior year, and, following his senior season, he was selected as the co-MVP in the MPL. He helped to lead the Cougars to a 21-3 record, and the first basketball league title since 1999.
