Beaumont Issues Weed Abatement Notices

Beaumont Threatens Private Property Owners While Weeds on City Property are Two Feet Tall.

The City of Beaumont has Issued a Notice to selected Properties informing the property owners that the Beaumont Police Department plans to violate State and Federal privacy laws and enter private property without a Search Warrant. The excuse is ‘weed abatement’.

#1. The City of Beaumont has a lot of nerve targeting private property while ignoring the weeds growing in abundance on City property and along the roads.

#2. In normal cities; Code Compliance and Weed Abatement departments do not operate out of the Police Department. Only the City of Beaumont runs Code Enforcement out of the Police Department in order to intimidate the Citizens.

#3. The Notice states: “This is your First and Final Notice of the nuisance(s). All parcels will be inspected starting on May 13, 2019, to determine if you have complied with this Notice.”

Does the City have Search Warrants to enter private property? No, they do not have Search Warrants. So no - the City will not be waltzing onto private property to ‘determine compliance’.

Not every property owner is being held to the same standards, only a ‘selection’ of property.
