Beaumont Nominated For Smart City Award

The Inland Empire Economic Partnership named Beaumont as one of four 'Smart Cities' for encouraging business development and growth.

BANNING-BEAUMONT, CA - From The City of Beaumont: The City of Beaumont is one of four inland cities to be nominated for the Smart City / Smart County Award at the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP) ā€œTurning Red Tape to Red Carpet Awards." IEEP hosts the annual event to recognize the Inland Empire’s outstanding public agencies that are proactively cutting through bureaucratic red tape and opening the door for business growth and success, and who work to eliminate barriers to economic growth and support job creation for the Inland Empire.

The nomination highlights the Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) Telecommunications Network implemented by the City of Beaumont in 2004. Beaumont became one of the first communities in California to receive Verizon’s fiber-based cable television service and since implementation, over 9,000 homes have received FTTP. In addition to FTTP, the nomination recognizes Beaumont’s efforts in social media and community engagement through a variety of platforms. The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Ontario.
