Beaumont Police Celebrate Local Volunteers, Youth Explorers, Chaplains

During National Volunteer Week, the city of Beaumont and the Beaumont Police Department recognized their volunteers.

Beaumont's Police Department Volunteers are essential. "We could not do what we do without the support and dedication of our three volunteer groups," a spokesperson for the department said.

BEAUMONT, CA—It's National Volunteer Week, and Beaumont's Police Department is acknowledging those who give their time for the sake of others.

Last year, Beaumont's police worked with 32 volunteers, who have dedicated over 4,000 hours of service toward the department and community. In 2024, they are on track to do similar work for the three volunteer groups the city hosts: Youth Explorers, Civilian Volunteer Patrol, and Police Chaplains.

"The Youth Explorers spend countless hours learning about a career in law enforcement and assisting with special events and other department needs," Marcedes Cashmer, spokesperson for the department, said. "They serve as the future of law enforcement, and we thank them for investing their interest in this career field."

The Civilian Volunteer Patrol is the "eyes and ears" for officers, according to Cashmer. "They enhance our presence within the community. The perform many functions assisting patrol, special event coverage, parking issues, sex offender registration, and more," she said.

The Police Chaplains are there in times of crisis and are "on call" for their services, according to Cashmer.

"The chaplains are just a phone call away, offering much-needed assistance and support during times of crisis and critical incidents," she said. "They assist in special department ceremonies and are on hand to support all staff on our team."

The department thanks all of the current and past volunteers for their efforts in helping others. "Their service is a gift that our department is grateful for."

If you want to volunteer with the Beaumont Police Department, Cashmer suggests taking part in a Beaumont Citizen's Academy session. "It's a good way to learn more about the department," she said. "If they are interested in volunteering, we also offer a volunteer course after the main academy."
