Beaumont Police Officer Honored At Law Enforcement Appreciation Awards

BEAUMONT, CA — The Beaumont Police Department has honored a favorite corporal and K9 for their legendary partnership this week, it was announced over social media. The dinner and award ceremony took place Thursday evening in Riverside, where Beaumont Police Cpl. Ryan Brieda and K9 Mila won their Distinguished K9 Team award.

The Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee's annual award ceremony is a way for residents and businesses in Western Riverside County to say thank you and show appreciation for those who put their lives in danger day-in, day-out, according to the group's website. Honorees were selected by the committee members, comprised of business people, public officials and officers from throughout western Riverside County.

"This award is well deserved!" the Beaumont Police Department spokesperson Marcedes Cashmer reported.

Honorees were awarded in the areas of:

  • Lifetime Achievement

Over their five year career together Cpl. Brieda and K9 Mila have seized large quantities of narcotics, according to the Beaumont Police Department, including:

  • 3,609 lbs. of methamphetamine
  • 5,000 ecstasy pills, 7,243 lbs. of marijuana
  • 313,140 fentanyl pills
  • 390 lbs. of cocaine
  • 130 lbs. of fentanyl powder
  • 27 lbs. of heroin
  • $4.3 million in illegal narcotic proceeds
