Beaumont's Landon Carr Signs Letter, Accepts Apptmt to Air Force Academy

The senior helped lead the Cougars to the California Interscholastic Federation Division 6 water polo championship in Fall 2011, and he was named CIF D6 Player of the Year, Beaumont High's athletic director said.

Beaumont High senior Landon Carr, a standout with the Cougars championship water polo program, has signed a National Letter of Intent and accepted his appointment to attend the Air Force Academy in Fall 2012, his school announced Monday.

Carr helped lead Beaumont to the California Interscholastic Federation Division 6 water polo championship in Fall 2011, and he was named CIF D6 Player of the Year, Cougars Athletic Director Martin DuSold said.

In addition, Carr was a two-time all-CIF selection, and a member of the boys' swim team that earned the CIF D4 runner-up plaque last spring, DuSold said. Carr helped to lead the Cougars to two consecutive Mountain Pass League championships and a two-year, overall record of 46-18.

Carr will be the first male student-athlete to compete at the NCAA D1 level in aquatics, DuSold said. He has earned a cumulative GPA of 4.13 as a student-athlete each of his semesters at Beaumont High.
