Beaumont Superintendent Dr. Maureen Latham Retiring This Year

Her replacement has been chosen, district officials say.

BEAUMONT, CA- Beaumont Unified School District has announced a changing of the guard at the superintendent's office, as Dr. Maureen Latham will retire and Terrence Davis will take over.

According to district officials, Latham will retire on July 8. She's been superintendent since 2012.

"There are terrific things happening in Beaumont Unified School District due to the focus on an innovative, engaging learning environment for students," Latham said in a press release announcing her retirement.

"I have chosen to resign from the position at this time to spend more time with my family and know the amazing legacy of Beaumont USD will continue," she said. "The threads of leadership are strong in the district and I believe all employees share the core belief that what they do positively impacts students’ lives. This is the cultural fiber of Beaumont USD and will continue long after my service ends. I am forever grateful to have been a part of such an outstanding district."

Taking over for Latham will be the current Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Terrence Davis.

Davis said that though he will miss the passion behind Latham's leadership, he looks forward to forging ahead.

“I’m honored to have been selected to serve as the next Superintendent of Beaumont Unified School District," Davis said. "I plan to continue to move our District forward utilizing the support from our strong staff to prepare students for the future."

Davis has a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from California State University Long Beach, and his master’s degree in Special Education from National University. He has also been with BUSD since 2012. Prior to that, he worked at Temecula Valley and Alvord Unified school districts.
