California Snowpack Below Average in Year’s First Survey

The picture taken this morning of the Pass Area snowpack is not encouraging.

The Department of Water Resources has completed the first measure of California snowpack and the results were not good.

“Overall, the snowpack is at 67 percent of average for this time of year at 7.1 inches of snow-water, according to DWR data.”

The Pass Area’s only natural water supply are the Basins that catch water from the snowpack in the surrounding mountains. The picture taken this morning of the Pass Area snowpack is not encouraging.

Last measured; the Beaumont Basin had a 2-year water reserve. The Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District currently purchases and imports 2/3’s of their water from the State.

State Laws require the Water District to have a secured 20-year supply of Water before issuing Will-Serve Letters. The Beaumont Basin has been in Overdraft for 1/4 Century, but the Water District refuses to stop issuing Will-Serve Letters in violation of State and Federal Laws.
